If you are planning on attending the State Tournament in Lafayette, there are a few important pieces of information we need to share with you from Lafayette High School and from AAA. Please read the information thoroughly!

  • Lafayette County High School welcomes you to the 2026 1A State
    Basketball Tournament. We hope you enjoy your time here at Cougar
    Arena. Our school and community are very excited to host this event.
    Our administration, coaching staff, and a host of volunteers are readily
    available to assist with all of your needs and concerns. We anticipate
    many competitive matchups throughout the tournament and would
    like to take this time to remind everyone that sportsmanship is a must.

    Any unsportsmanlike conduct that interferes with the competitive
    nature of the game will not be tolerated.

  • ADMISSION -State - $8.00 for adults and students. No reserved seats will be sold.

  • FILMING OR VIDEOTAPING

    WARNING - Live Streaming/Broadcasting without permission from the AAA is
    prohibited. Filming or videotaping for personal use is acceptable as long as all
    facility rules are followed. Only credentialed media or approved broadcasting
    groups should be allowed on the floor or in filming areas. Schools can only film
    games in which they are participating.

  • Concession Stand – The concession stand is located in the gym lobby and
    will have a variety of items to choose from. We will ONLY accept cash!

  • General AAA Information:
    Face/Body Painting: General face/body painting is not permitted. An individual
    may have one small, appropriate decal, sticker, or painted design on the cheek.
    Posters/Banners/Signs: No handheld signs, banners, pennants, glow sticks, or poms
    are permitted in the stands at any AAA state play-off event. Cheerleaders ONLY
    are permitted to use poms while cheering on the court.
    • Artificial Noisemakers: Artificial noisemakers shall not be used at any indoor
    event. Artificial noisemakers are items such as, but not limited to, megaphones, air
    horns, bells, whistles, clickers, thunder sticks, explosive devices, tape/CD players,
    bluetooth speakers, and radios. Noisemakers that require an external power source
    are not allowed at any post-season event. The use of megaphones is not permitted
    by ANYONE.
    Balls: Balls or other items may not be thrown in or into the stands.
    Tobacco: Smoking or the use of smokeless tobacco is prohibited on school
    campuses. Smoking or the use of smokeless tobacco is prohibited at the basketball
    finals.
    Balloons: Balloons are not permitted at any AAA state play-off or championship
    event. Attire: Bare chests are not permitted. Shirts and shoes must be worn.

  • Inappropriate Behavior: Throwing objects into the playing area before, during,
    or after a contest is not permitted. At no time before, during, or after a contest shall
    spectators be permitted to enter the playing field. Verbal harassment or derogatory
    remarks directed toward an opponent or official are not permitted. Spectators are
    not permitted to hold up newspapers while teams are being introduced or while
    teams, cheerleaders, or dance teams are performing. All spectators should be
    respectful of all team members, including those on the opposing team. Fans,
    Bands, and Others: A school's students and other fans should be seated in the
    designated section or area and may not leave the stands to form lines for the team.
    Pep bands are not permitted. If fans desire to continuously stand during the game,
    they may do so at the top of the gym to avoid blocking the view of seated
    spectators.

  • Fans are expected to vigorously and positively support their own teams but are
    prohibited from taunting, baiting, demeaning, or committing any unsporting act by
    words, actions, or gestures. This includes the use of profanity or tactics designed to
    embarrass opponents under any circumstances, including on the basis of race,
    religion, gender, or national origin. The AAA handbook specifically charges the
    superintendent and/or principal of each school with the responsibility for ensuring
    sportsmanlike behavior on the part of their fans and school representatives.
