CIVID-19 School Update

April 7, 2020

Governor Hutchinson announced yesterday that Arkansas public schools will be closed (to on-site instruction) for the remainder of the 19-20 school year. Alternate Methods of Instruction will continue through the end of the school year. This comes as no surprise, but is still difficult to hear. We miss our kids and want them in school. We also fully support student and public safety during this pandemic. We will continue our meal delivery as long as it is safe to do so, according to Judge Bowman this afternoon Franklin County did not have a confirmed positive case of Covid-19 yesterday, but there was a confirmed positive in Scranton, Logan County.

Prom and graduation are postponed to a later date. We will find a way to honor our seniors, but we currently do not know when. We are registering Kindergartners by phone, so if you know of a student that should start school next year have them call the office at 479-635-4701.

Please continue to follow the guidelines of the CDC with social distancing and be safe. Working together we can get through this and be a stronger community because of it.

Sincerely,

Taylor Gattis, Superintendent
